Effective date: 5 October 2026

This policy explains what information the FoodScanner iOS app (“the app”) handles, why, and what choices you have. FoodScanner has no user accounts, shows no ads and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Who we are

The app is provided by AIRapps, s.r.o., Vihorlatská 8, Bratislava (“we”, “us”), who is the data controller for the processing described here. Contact: airapps.sro@gmail.com.

Information that stays on your device

The following is stored only on your iPhone and is never sent to us:

Deleting the app removes this data.

Product lookups (Open Food Facts)

To show product information, the app sends the scanned barcode number to the Open Food Facts database. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address to Open Food Facts. No other information about you is sent. See the Open Food Facts privacy policy.

Analytics and crash reporting (Google Firebase)

To understand how the app is used and to fix bugs, the app uses the following Google Firebase services. Google acts as our data processor.

This data is not linked to your name, email or any account. It is not used for advertising and is not used to track you. We do not collect the advertising identifier (IDFA).

Google may process this data outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States. Such transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses. Analytics event data is kept for 2 months. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Purchases

Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, payment details or Apple ID. We only learn whether the app has been unlocked on your device.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, rectify or erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Because Firebase data is not linked to your identity, we generally cannot identify which records belong to you. If you contact us, we will help where possible. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
